neighborhood walk today- always good to have the leash practice. steve & i worked tour de fat for a few hours. he is a swimba member & mt biker.
my bike is an electra- flat foot, step on brake cruiser (named carmen- she's red, and then there's the electra part....) anyway- i ride to satchel's to watch movies & drink wine (correction- rode) and to the grocery store and sometimes to hyde park or smoky mt pizza for dinner. rather walk (with the dogs) usually.
tour de fat is swimba's (southwest idaho mt bike assn) annual fundraiser. lots of fun, lots of costumes, lots of beer & bikes. and it benefits ALL trail users. swimba members donate a lot of time and money for trail maintenance & building and we all reap the benefits.
there was plenty of info on ettiquette. it was a good reminder that we're all in this together, and that supporting swimba is a way to support the trails.

Volunteer Opportunities
Adopt a Trail- Pick a trail that you use a lot to give a little extra TLC to once or twice a month. That's the idea behind Adopt a Trail. Volunteer to spend extra time on these trails regularly picking up OPP (other people's poop) and other trash. OK for several of us to take the same trail, some of the most heavily used need extra attention.
If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer for some of the western trails, or Military Reserve area that would be great. The Interpretive trail, Bob's, Camel's Back and Table Rock are also still available.

Boise Trail DOG (dog owner's group)'s goal is to organize responsible dog owners to ensure access to off leash recreation in the Ridge to Rivers trail system.
We recognize that in order to be involved in the decision making process we need a formal organization to serve as a liaison between the city and dog owners and to assist with outreach and educational efforts.
We are not affiliated with Parks and Rec, Ridge to Rivers or the City, but recognize that we need to work within the system to protect access.

TRAILDOG ETIQUETTE
1. Follow leash laws. Aggressive or timid dogs
should never be off leash. In off leash areas make sure you have a good recall and a friendly dog.
2. Yield the right of way to most other trail users, especially horses, llamas and packgoats. For these animals, step to the side of the trail and put your dog at heel while they pass you. For other users, keep your dog out of the way and allow appropriate room to pass.
3. When meeting other traildogs, call your dog to you and ask permission before allowing your dog to sniff and get friendly. The other person may not want his dog to socialize.
4. Pick up your trash and dog poop. Leave the area as clean as you found it, or cleaner. Let
your dog pack out some extra garbage.
5. Don't allow your dog to chase wildlife,
6. Remember that a reliable recall doesn't mean repeatedly screaming at your dog
