april 7

another beautiful morning. red winged blackbirds singing away in the cattails.....
robins sunning themselves in the trees.....
the owyhees glowing from across the valley.....
sunlight on the hills....bright blue sky
i think that this is a yellow bell, or fritillaria pudica, a type of lily.
this sure looks like some sort of legume, and may be woolly pod locoweed, but i'm not sure.
bitterbrush starting to bloom- this will get wonderfully fragrant when more of the plants are in bloom.
for some reason, my favorite sagebrush for framing shots down the draw to the owyhees was chopped down. i'll have to find another favorite vantage point....

for those of you who don't know what the tall weedy looking stuff growing in the marshy area is, it's hemlock. a noxious weed. it was killed last year, be interesting to see how this area looks this year.
as i look around & see things like this right off the trail, i think that they must be mounds of some burrowing rodent. good to see, because evidently these creatures are coexisting with the traffic on the trail....

speaking of coexisting- 3 with, 3 without, all pleasant & polite
