monday sept 8
wow, creepy news out of military reserve yesterday. a moment of thought for the victim, her friends & family and those who found her. i can't imagine.
reminds me not to get too comfortable about feeling safe just because i am in the reserve nearly every day, and see the same people and have the 2 big dogs with me. even without knowing the circumstances.
and to be thankful for every day.

4 with, 5 without. guy with the stroller & black & yellow labs off leash in the on leash area. he knows all about ticketing, though, and they didn't come up & bother us, so it's all good. he was carrying poop bags.
have a good week.

see spot splash

started the day with a nice walk- around the pond, through the grove across the street up chickadee & home. it was busy! lots of people & dogs- most very well behaved, all leashed where they needed to be.
then to see spot splash- what a great event and what fun! free event, sponsored by the idaho humane society with support from parks & rec. thanks to the boise trail dog members who came out to help too.

there were lots of happy labs, but lots of other shapes & sizes too- there was a dachshund happily paddling in the kid's pool, a boxer, margie's terrier , a few great danes & all sorts of heinz 57s....

best of all- the dogs got along fine.
i really enjoed putting faces to the names i've seen in email for the past months, seeing some folks again & talking to new people about boise trail dog.
look forward to meeting even more of you next week at trailpalooza-

another friday
and another sunrise! nice soft blue & pink wispy clouds.....
it seems like i always stop in this spot and usually take a photo. i love sage, mountains & the tawny hills, so maybe that's why..... i'll have to go back & line them all up some time & see if there's much difference...... i would think in the light at least!

5 with and 5 without. one with being a mt bike rider zooming out the camel's back entrance with some sort of small terrier running for all it was worth behind him. poop from that dog isn't getting picked up.

halle & echo barely looked, tho, which was great.
have a good weekend all- stop by the btd table at see spot splash & say hi-

poop scoopin' boogie

'nother nice morning. 2 dog walk day. echo and i are doing great- the work is paying off. we walked with eileen & bode ( or bohdi- not sure) both on leash side by side & off leash. bode didn't understand bouve play (i may need to find echo another bouve to play with), but it was all good. when we peeled off to go up chickadee & they continued to the grove he kept hanging back as if wondering why we weren't together any more. then we passed jade & her owner on chickadee & walked out with another on leash dog & owner.
back with the swisster & poop bags. i don't go down the poop road very often because a) it really has improved and b) i know i am preaching to the choir. but when paula's sister pointed to the pile right by the trash can & said "why do people do that?" i got annoyed again.
so, if anyone has any ideas for how to reach the folks who are still clueless, please send them along.

first bag is from camel's back to the trash can up the hill above the pond (all on leash area). second from there to the trash can at the bottom of chickadee ridge near 8th street.

rabbitbrush just starting to bloom...

first walk 5 with, 4 without; second 5 and 5. both times, all leashed where they should be & all owners following the rules.
have a great day!

wednesday morning

another beautiful nice cool morning- love it! everyone very nice & polite- runner & bike rider thanked me for getting dogs out of the way. runner with dog leashed hers up when she saw me working with halle & echo. everything working just the way it should in my own little corner of the trail system this morning!

not sure what this is all about- tiny feathers, and there were others scattered along the trail, but not a huge amount of them. maybe fox, raccoon or coyote? maybe just molting? no special interest from the dogs.

4 with, 5 without, everyone following rules except the guy with the yellow & black labs & the baby carriage. he did hold off following us down the trail closely, tho, when he realized that i really didn't want halle & echo to play with his dogs, which was apprecaited.
have a great day!

noon walk update
first- the FCAC meeting tomorrow has been cancelled, don't know why.
wow- entirely different story at noon- 9 without, halle & me the only ones with.... too warm to run with a dog probably, and we did a different route- through the grove past the FLC over chickadee & back to the lower lot on 8th st- but it's the first time in a very long time i have been on a trail & not seen another person with a dog.
